Laptop Wont Stay In Standby
Hi, I am having a strange problem. I have an HP Pavilion zv5000 Laptop and everytime i close the lid it used to go into standby...which is exactly what i wanted it to do. But one day it decided to come back from its nap time right after i closed the lid. It goes into standby for about 2-10 seconds and then turns back on. I dont know what the problem is......please help.

Hi, and welcome to TSF. Since your system is going into standby in the first place, it is not a loss of settings. It appears your system is being pulled out of standby for some reason. Check your NIC in Device Manager. Click Start->Run. Type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and hit enter. Expand "Network Adapters" and double click your NIC. Look at the Power Management tab. Make sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is unchecked. Click OK. Check this property for other devices as well.
