laptop wont start

Dell Inspiron 1501
I have an Inspiron 1501 that won’t switch on. it seems to trip out the charger
The charger and battery are working perfect in a similar laptop
The ram and the harddrive I am using are from similar laptop and working ok
The operating system is vista
Has anyone any ideas to try

If charger and battery is working with another laptop then you most likely have

a problem with the DC Jack (on the motherboard) or a problem with the motherboard itself.
