how do i get video to my flatscreen TV from compaq presario v2000 (circa 2005).

Hello and welcome to TSF.

It depends. Some flatscreens have a VGA port (looks like this: VGA Port). Make sure you have the same port on the laptop too, but it may not because it's old.
