Hi everyone,

This is my first post to the forums so I hope I have posted this in the right section.

Anyways here's the story: I connected my HP dv2130 laptop (7-pin svideo) to my Toshiba 14AF42 (4-pin svideo) tv and everything was running smoothly, full colour display. Just as I sat down with my lunch to relax after a hard morning, the tv now displays only black and white video.

What could be causing this? It seemed to be working fine for the first 10 minutes. Also, it switched back to colour for 2 seconds and go black and white again a few times.

I live in Canada so my windows 7 laptop is using NTSC.

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm certainly no expert. But this website claims that 4-pin and 7-pin aren't compatible:

"S-Video – This is probably the most common method out there currently because an S-Video cable is cheap as heck and just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. You’ll have to make sure you laptop is equipped with this port. Remember, there are two types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops and PC’s are equipped with a 7-pin port, so if your TV only has a 4-pin S-Video port, then this method will not work."
