Hi -

I have a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S311. When it is plugged in I get an orange light for the battery and a green light for the a/c adapter. The a/c adapter was replaced a little over a year ago, but the battery never has been.

The computer had not been plugged in for a while (24+hours) and when I went to plug it in and turn it on this AM, I got a screen saying the battery power was low and then it shut off. Now, it will power up with a screen saying Windows was not shut down properly and then it promplty powers off again- but I still have the green and orange lights. I took the battery out and a/c adapter light started blinking.

Do I just need to replace the battery?

Thanks for any help.

No - I only get a the blinking light on the computer for the a/c adaptor indicator. I cannot power the computer on without the battery. When the battery is in, I can power it up - but as soon as I get the option to select a mode to turn my computer on - it shuts back off.

It sounds like your A/C adapter is bad, it is only putting out enough juice to turn on your lights but not boot up the system. If it were my laptop the next thing i would do is buy a replacement charger.

You are brilliant! That is exactly what I needed. My laptop is now charging the battery and happily running of the a/c power!

Thank you! Thank you!
