Ok, sounds like your computer is trying to boot from the hard drive, but having problems reading from it. What I would suggest doing is to download a hard drive diagnostic tool and run that on your computer. You can click the link in my signature, choose the brand for your hard drive, and download thier diagnostic test. Most will come in a .iso format, you will need cd burning software like roxio, nero, sonic for example. They have an option to burn an image to disc. Once the disc is created, put it in your computer and start your computer to that disc and let it run the test.
If you don't know the brand of your hard drive, you can click on Hitachi and download Drive Fitness Test, then follow the instructions above to burn that to a cd. Select ATA only when your computer boots from the cd and then run both quick and advanced tests.
I havent been able to do what you asked...
but I put the Recovery disc in the laptop and I have something saying;;;
No operating system installed or partition corrupted Press R to perform a full PC recovery....
should I do this and how long will this take
