Hi there


I got a new toshiba satellite laptop 4 months ago installed with Mcafee antivirus for 1 month trial, once it expired i installed free AVG edition but had some virus from the internet (i use external internet usb) but for ten days or so it hangs up on the desktop when i log in doing nothing so i press alt+cts+delete but nothing happens. Now i have installed new AVG 9.0 edition and run a full computer scan it detected 108 faults and healed or removed.But still it hangs when i 1st log in.

Any help in this regard would be much apriciated.

did you use the Mcafee removal tool ?

Hi -

Remove McAfee using the McAfee Removal Tool (MRT) - http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Download the McAfee Removal Tool (MRT); save to desktop. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the MRT icon and select Run as Administrator. When complete - re-boot.

Reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | click on FirewallSettings.exe above | select the Advanced Tab | click on "Restore Defaults" | Click Apply, OK

Use AVG for a/v if you wish - http://free.avg.com/download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
