What would suddenly cause a KVM switch that I have been using for a few years, to stop working?

I have two towers that are BOTH Windows 7 64 bit.

Tower #1 has a VGA that connects to the KVM, to the main monitor. I have a secondary monitor for that tower, that connects to the DVI slot on the card & on the other end, connects to the VGA of the secondary monitor.

Tower #2 has the VGA slot occupied by the other feed from the KVM switch. I have a secondary monitor that actually is a TV, hooked up via HDMI on the video card & the TV.

This all was working fine for years. The only thing I did recently, was switch out tower #1 this past week, for a different tower. The physical hardware setups all remained the same.

In this new setup, I also reformatted BOTH towers, to give them clean slates. However, the KVM does not work now. It only works on whichever tower you turn on first. The quick double click on the scroll button, that usually is the hot key to switch between towers, does nothing.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Thanks for any feedback!

I believe that is the key sentence. All things have a life span and your switch could have reached its end.

Let me put it this way. I have never received a second hand kvm switch that actually functioned properly.

Wouldn't hurt to check if that kvm needs drivers for both machines perhaps.
