Opinion or advice solicited.

I bought a couple of Konica Minolta magicolor 4750dn printers at a good price. One factor was that they can record accounts.

But I found that to do accounts, the add-on hard drive is needed. The lowest price I've found for the hard drive kit is $300, more than I paid for the printers. And its only a 40gb sata drive (2.5 in) that can be picked up for $20.

It takes a standard sata data cable, but the power connector on the control board is not a standard pc-sata connector that I have been able to identify. I have the part number for the power cable alone and am trying to source it.

The printer control software has a hard disk format function, so I assume if I can get it connected, it should format and work.

Any opinions/advice to the contrary or helpful additions?

PS This is at a non-profit educational organization, so every dollar is valuable and can't be simply charged back to a customer.

Thanks
