Kaspersky and Sophos Antivirus deleted explorer.exe. My Laptop won't reboot.

hello everybody..

Yesterday i just bought myself Kaspersky PURE for my laptop. 15 Euro. With License Key.

....long story short....

After i installed it, i scanned my laptop. At that time i noticed that some files named explorer.exe were in the Quarantine and being cleaned/deleted. Like always, it asked me then to restart my laptop to complete the process. So i just did it!!!.

This is when the **** happened. While rebooting, it went to the Windows Boot Manager. I had two choice which are 'Launch Start Up Repair' or 'Start Windows Normally'.

So i went with 'Start Windows Normally'. But the laptop rebooted itself once more and went to the windows boot manager again. So i had no choice and this time i chose 'Launch Start Up Repair', which lead me to 'System Restore'

The System Restore just restored my laptop to the point, just before i installed my Kaspersky!!! So i lost my 15 Euro antivirus in a blink!!!.

It's okay. It is only 15 Euro right? Not so expensive.

Then i got myself another antivirus named Sophos from my university. Each student will get one license for it. So i forgot about the Kaspersky and went with Sophos.

This is when the 2nd **** happened. Sophos just did exactly like what Kaspersky has done. Sophos scanned my laptop ---> detected explorer.exe --> put in quarantine ---> explorer.exe was being cleaned/deleted ---> asked me to reboot laptop ---> the laptop went to Windows Boot Manager --- i had no choice but to restore my laptop ----> now my laptop at the point b4 Sophos was installed in my laptop ----> I LOST MY SOPHOS!!!!!

please some genius out there... help me with a long description.. i do read whatever u write.

Thank a million times.
so what should i do???? buy another antivirus and lost it once again????

You still have the CD, so you haven't lost anything and don't need to buy another antivirus to replace it. You can reinstall from the CD if you want to carry on using Kaspersky.

Or alternatively, you could install a free antivirus instead. Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast and Avira are all free to download, are just as good as Kaspersky and Sophos, and come highly recommended.

If you think your laptop might be infected and you'd like our security anlysts to have a look, please follow the instructions here and start a new thread in the Virus Removal forum.
It sounds like your explorer.exe file could be patched. The only way to really find out would be to follow the instructions from koala above.
