Running Win XP with SP2.
On power up I get this error. 'OVERCLOCKING FAILED ' I have done a reset of values in the BIOS. I have also changed the power unit, thinking this was at fault. The problem is still there.

If I do a hard reset, by the reset button on the front of the CPU, everything seems ok. If I shut the system shut down but leave the power on. Everything is OK.
The problem mainly comes when I turn the power off completely and leave the system for a few hours. Then switch it all on and boot up..
Any ideas please, coz I have run out of them.
Thankyou.

Welcome to TSF:

Have you installed the latest bios (the DOS based bios utility) is the safest too for this job / see mobo manual

download this free monitoring prog (free)
http://www.download.com/3000-2086-10018691.html

run defrag, virus scanner & spyware scanner all at the same time / after 20 minutes of multi tasking copy & paste your system temps, cpu temps, and system voltages in here for evaluation.

regards

joe
