Have K8NE, 480 W Tagan PSU (480-U01), Galaxy 6800GT card, Corsair Ram etc

Right now this system wont boot with this card in it. Put in my old Nvidia AGP4x graphics card and it works fine
Put the Glaxy card which is a new replacement into my old AGP 4x mobo and it works perfectly (last one had some memory errors (garbled screen etc))

So both items work seprately but not together.

Just to clarify, i think the mobo doesn't even post, and wont turn off from the power switch either. With the other 4x agp card it all works fine and turns off a ok

Anyideas much appeciated

Could it be a PSU problem or an earthing problem???

Could it be a AGP slot power problem, with insufficent capacitors etc

The voltage readings are all normal from within the BIOS

Lastest ASUS bios too

Thanks

Shilen

Yes I am using them, the Tagan has a specific Shielded Power output for the card.

The annoying thing is the whole setup worked with the previous damged card for months. Nothing has changed. Its just a new card. That is why I thought it might be the card, but that works fine, and also worked fine in a friends computer.

Right am going to try swapping the power supply. Will let you know what happens. :4-dontkno

Sounds like you may have a weak PSU / the high voltage demand of your new card may put it over the edge

I would try a enermax 550 watt unit (p4's of 3.0 ghz and above = 550 watts PSU)

another decent choice is the Antec tru power 550 watt

here is a PSU ratings chart for your evaluation

Right tried another PSU didn't work....

My friends computer has the exact same PSU as mine ( I built it for him), finally gave up and....
oh one thing i didn't mention is that this was a BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT CARD.

So believing it was the mobo tried a new M/B, but again no boot. Must be the card so have sent it back for a replcaement.
