You can put it into a different computer but you will need to set the jumper on the 20GB hard drive as "slave"to avoid a conflict with the main hard drive.

ok, i have a piece of crap computer that i have no use for, but the hard drive is like, 20 gigs, so i wanna use this computer in a dell to put pics and music on. can i format that drive and just... put it into my dell? the old comp is 98 and the new is xp. if theirs no way, ill keep it anyway, just to say i have it. imean hey, it might be useful in the future!

yeah, but you only want the jumper set as slave if you are adding it to a cable with one drive on it already set to master.
if you are adding a new cable, set it as master.
