Good Evening garysfo, was this problem apparent before you replaced the coil?

Does the system fuse remain normal unblown with just the ignition switched on without the engine running?

How many seconds would you suggest the engine runs before the fusle blows.

What size fuse are you using and is that the fuse the correct value for that application?

Has the vehicle had any recent electrical or battery problem needing assisted starts etc.?

Has the vehicle had any recent front panel damage?
(that may have possibly crushed wiring or plugs under hood)

Was the vehicle running perfectly prior to this event?

Others will have different ideas.

Cheers, qldit.

Hello,
electrical problems can be a real bear.
hopefully you have or can borrow a test light and a multi meter.
do you have a haynes repair manual?? if not, is there a library nearby? the reference section should have the manuals as well as a book about auto electric trouble shooting.
they will explain (better than i can explain) how to test all the bits that make up an electrical system.
It sounds like something is trying to draw too much electricity through that circut
(has any one installed a stereo system or other electrical accessories?) or maybe, possibly, a wire is has insulation pinched or rubbed through and it could be "grounding out"
some times when we can't figure out what the problem is, we figure out what the problem IS NOT and see whats left over.
