I just upgraded my system , and so I reformatted my Hd and reinstalled windows xp pro. On my 120 gb hd, after installing windows, it locks up, exactally an hour after being turned on, regardless of what im doing, be it surfing the net, playing a game, or even if I just let the screen saver run, after an hour, it hangs. I have reformatted the hd, and expereanced the same issue. As a test, I reformatted my 40 gb backup hd, and installed windows, and window runs fine, except for it hangs on shutdown at the saving setting point, but it has not locked up on me at any other time and has been running for 2 days now.

I was wondering if there may be somthing to do with my hd, or if anyone else has had windows hang after an hour, as I couldnt find anythign on that.
Thanks

Sounds like a power issue

Try turning off all power management features

right click on the desktop -> Properties -> Screensaver tab -> Power (near the bottom)

Set all power options to "Never"
