dear Sirs,

I am new here,

I have an old PC named Maher´s Digital World (www.nomaher.com)

installed not genuine Win XP pro SP3 32 bit v. 2014 eng

i have a Sony - DCR-IP7E camcorder and movieshaker 3.1 software

i.link with ieee1394 firewire doesn't work because the software says the device is not connected

maybe some driver is missing, or the motherboard is not compatible ...is there an i.link driver for the link, or a camera driver?

...correctly connecting the camera and opening and setting up the camera software correctly, the camera is not detected by the capture software (message appears: device not connected).

In Device Manager, the video card is installed correctly. The i.link cable is not damaged.

(Previously I used the firewire in another pc: hp pavilion a720.it with win xp home, which worked fine; unfortunately I can´t remember or find which mother board it had. )

I can't figure out the problem: can anyone help me?

information:
camcorder SONY MICROMV DCR-IP7E - Sony Movieshaker 3.1 software for MicroMV

Motherboard AMERICAN MEGATRENDS AMIBIOS K7S5A release 29/10/2002

Please can you inform me about a specific driver for firewire IEEE1394 "universal compatible" card for this specific motherboard?

AMD ATHLON XP1500+ processor
OS - WIN XP PROFESSIONAL PRO 32 BIT SP3 + UNOFFICIAL SP4_ENG; NOT ORIGINAL FACTORY PROGRAM
video card FIREWIRE DESKTOP KIT IEEE1394 brand SITECOM

from another forum, regarding Movieshaker 3.1 software I read:

It is necessary for the above operating systems to have been installed at the factory.

"Please note; You do not have to have your OS installed at the factory. I have used it on an IBM ThinkCentre m57 with Windows XP Pro and the unofficial SP4 and it works fine, however, it comes bundled with Quicktime 5.x;

... so I think I will try to install eng_win xp pro 32bit with unofficial sp4

I then installed a windows xp pro sp3 32bit + sp4 English version which is not the original factory system on the pc but without success; I ask if there is a system available to make the motherboard recognize as factory an operating system that is not factory?

I have searched for camera drivers for win xp but without success;

could it be that the motherboard is not compatible? If yes, how could I solve the problem?

thanks in advance for a response!

Best regards

SF - Italy:)

What is the Make and Model# of your Computer or Motherboard? (Maher´s Digital World is not a computer or motherboard manufacturer)
i.link with ieee1394 firewire doesn't work because the software says the device is not connected
Make sure the digital camcorder is set up to output a signal through the i.LINK (aka Apple® FireWire® port) prior to being connected to the computer
Be sure to connect an i.LINK cable to the computer after installing MovieShaker Ver.3.1 bundled with your purchased MICROMV device (application software). If
you connect the MICROMV device to the computer with an i.LINK cable before installing it, the computer will not recognize the MICROMV device correctly.

1. You do not have to have a Windows OS installed from the Factory.
2. Windows XP SP3 should be Activated or it will have limited usability.
3. Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and has not been supported for several years now.
4. There are NO Drivers requires for IEEE 1394 Firewire, the drivers are loaded from the Windows OS.
Go to the Run box and type devmgmet.msc and press Enter.
In the Device Manager are there any devices with Yellow Marks? If so, these devices must have drivers installed. If you can get online with XP (one of the setbacks with running on old OS) go to the Manufacturers download drivers site and type in your make and model # and download the Chipset driver (aids in USB and Firewire connection) and any other drivers you need from the Device Manager.

I am sure of all

1. You do not have to have a Windows OS installed from the Factory.
OK
2. Windows XP SP3 should be Activated or it will have limited usability.
It is activated
3. Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and has not been supported for several years now.
I know, thanks

Ok, but I was asking for specific drivers for the motherboard
Go to the Run box and type devmgmet.msc and press Enter.

All drivers for Firewire are supplied in the Windows OS since Windows 98SE including XP. If you go to the Device Manager, is there a heading for IEEE1394 ? If so, that is the Firewire card. If it doesn't have a yellow mark, the card is working fine.

You can post in the Sony Forum for better results Search - Sony
