Hey,

My ISP updated our modem and brought in a CT 5621T. It has four ports, but only two work. Other threads online, I think even on this forum, have suggested the router is bridged to eliminate the NAT layer. So I guess my question is, if I reset the modem, will my ISP know? And how can I remove this bridge?

Are you sure the two ports aren't simply defective? Can you connect to both of the ports and use both computers?

Let's see this connected to the CT 5621T.


Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Looks like a router to me. It has a private IP address range, and the Default Gateway appears correct for a router.

I suspect the two ports are simply defective.

Alright. So if I wanted test it and find out by resetting the thing, would my ISP know?

Why not simply ask the ISP why the two ports don't work. It's really hard to imagine they supply a 4 port router with two working ports on purpose.
