Hello again.

I applied to become a Volunteer and got accepted to Volunteer at Interconnections Seattle. This is a computer place which troubleshoots/repairs computers and gives them to the needy and people in other foreign countries. I heard that there is not much someone can do there if they already have the A+ certification, which I do.

Here is the Link to their volunteer page: http://www.interconnection.org/volunteer_center.html

Is this a good place to start? I am already into an AA in Technical Support, but I need more troubleshooting experience. Most of the jobs say you have to have at least 1 year providing support for end users using desktops and or doing troubleshooting on desktops. Would this count?

okay I know I'm stupid but what's an AA in technical support? Anyways yeah that sounds like a great way to get experience, I don't know why it wouldn't count. And it makes it look like you are a nice kind compassionate individual...which we all know is untrue unfortunately :p.

It has been my experience that in tech support, hiring managers are also looking for someone with some sort of customer service experience also. The thinking is that you can teach a service oriented person technical skill, but you cant teach a "techy" to be service oriented. You either are or you are not. Any experience you have working directly with the public is an advantage, so in the event you are fortunate enough to get an interview, speak in a manner that combines these two skill sets.
