I wanted to upgrade to an i7 8700k but since i'm not gonna overclock i'm thinking about getting the i7 8700 instead is that a good choice? Any answers will be appreciated.

Right now on newegg.com the K is $349 and non k is $345. For me at that price point it really doesn't matter.

That's actually true even if you have a B series or H series Intel mobo get the 8700k just for the sustained slightly higher boost clocks and for a $4.00 difference you might as well get the 8700k.

Sure you can purchase an 8700k in light of the fact that possibly in a year you need to attempt to overclock so on the off chance that you have a k CPU the choice to oc it is consistently there. With non k CPU's you can never oc (except if an exceptional profile comes out).
