Check out some other models of the new G92 8800GT. For example, the EVGA and Asus models are overclocked from the standard Core-600/Mem-900 to Core-700/Mem-1000.

Just about the only place you'll notice the gap between AMD and Intel is in benchmarks. The average user will not see a hugh difference in the real world. Just ask Linderman, "upgraded" from a FX60 to E6850 and sees little to no difference in real world computing.

just did what some call an upgrade today

E6850 on a gigabyte motherboard (what else !)

The 6850 is noticibly faster than the 60

not sure though if the SYSPREP may have had a hand in that / that method use does clean out all old drivers, far better than a repair install !!

so far; I am very happy with the upgrade

overclocking to follow
on second thought

last nite I reassembled my old system into a cheap $50.00 Coolermaster case to sell off the A8N-Sli & FX-60 installed a new drive and Win XP Pro

the old unit now feels just as fast as the 6850  I must have had a driver somewhere in the old OS which was slightly out of round, when I SYSprep'd the old OS it wiped out all system drivers, invoked a windows mini set-up which redetects all hardware.

ohhhhh well maybe if I was a gamer I would notice the diff ??
That said, I'm an AMD fan and have been for years.... But if I were to build a new system for myself right now, I would likely go with Intel. For overclocking ability if no other reason.
