I have a Gateway E6300 (about 10 actually, see my previous thread for explaination). Some have booted up with a new win xp os with no problems. All the drivers are there and installed neatly. A few have not been so cooperative. I am suspecting that the integrated sound card is either turned off or some how fried. I don't know if or how either one is possible. I would appriciate any info. I have been to the Gateway web site so many times I can type the entire URL in my sleep. I have found and read all of the info they have there. Thanks

The integrated sound will not prevent the PC from booting or operating properly. The only affect it can have is sound or no sound. If the onboard sound is turned, and the proper drivers are installed, you should be able to reinstate it in the Bios.
