I just got this r9 380 brand new to replace my old hd 6870.

When I installed it my motherboard splash screen is corrupted.

I then installed all the correct drivers and ran Furkmark 3D Gpu stress test for about 5 minutes and didn't find anything wrong.

Is there something wrong with my new GPU?

MOBO: Gigabyte GA 970A UD3.

CPU: AMD phenom II X4 965 OC to 3.8gz @ 1.425 volts stable with hyper 212 heat sink

GPU: XFX r9 380 4gb

PSU: 650w Corsair

And the Bios is not to the latest version. I haven't touch the bios at all since i purchased the board 4-5 years ago.

Nothing to worry about. On the inital startup, the video signal was being produced at a very low resolution; thus the highly pixelated view. The Windows default drivers would have immediately corrected when they loaded. Now with the correct drivers installed, you should be good to go.

Hi, I flash my bios to the latest version but it is still messed up.

also what windows driver are you talking about? The only driver i installed is my AMD one and everything in the desk top setting is correct.

How do i manually install the window driver to fix the splash screen"?

It is still this way? Excuse me, I misunderstood your initial post.

Windows has a set of default drivers built into the operating system. It uses these until/unless you install a newer/different driver.

Are you able to access system BIOS? Does it appear correct?

Yes the screen is still messed up and yes, I can get into the BIOS just fine.

After googling, I have some people having similar problems as me but no answer.

Artifacts? in bios splash screen after upgrade to r9 390

It can't be my video card right? Furmark shows no artifact and everything is working perfectly other than that splash screen.

Resetting the BIOS to default may correct it. From within system BIOS >> Main Menu, choose either Load Fail-Safe or Load Optimized. Save and Exit.

Or:

From the software DVD which shipped with your motherboad >> Application Software, install Face Wizard. This app allows you to reload the default BIOS screen or to load an image of your choice (new image must be .pcx or .bmp format, max size 640x480)

neither load fail safe or Load Optimized worked so I just simply turned off the splash screen altogether.

Thanks for trying to help, it seems that no one else has found an answer to this problem either and it seems to happen specifically to the R9 series + gigabyte mobos.

Well, if any other problem arises i will return.

Thanks again.
