I have a 3 month old hp pavilion dv7 laptop, and just recently after purchasing Iolo System Mechanic, the screen goes blank, but the power stays on. At that point I am unable to control anything other than the power.

Has anyone else with this model had these experiences?

Have you tried restoring back to a restore point before you installed Iolo System Mechanic? If you cannot boot well into Windows, you might need a Vista install DVD to be able to do this.
