Hi,
I've had a problem for awhile with my wireless connection randomly cutting out on me (roughly every 10 min). It's just a desktop PC connecting with my Belkin wireless router.

I've also recently noticed ipconfig.exe appearing in my Task Manager Process list for less then a second, then disappearing for 6-7 seconds. I have no idea if the two are related or not. Completely clueless on this one.
Sorry, but could I ask for some assistance?

Here is a hijackthis log, if it helps any.

Hi there-
I've had this exact same issue, I've done ALL the fixes - using Malwarebytes, adaware (both found nothing), creating new user acct, deleting reg keys, deleting startup items in msconfig, del the file in the system32 folder (it just repopulates itself) NOTHING worked....the only thing that keeps that process(IPconfig.exe)from popping up is disabling the Belkin utility and using the windows wireless utility...It can be bitchy to set up depending on what kind of security you're using (WEP or WPA) but got it working and never see that process again!...I'm going to uninstall the Belkin and reinstall to see if it comes back...I'll let you know what happens, but for now I got rid of it (somewhat) and my internet is MUCH faster!(well, back to normal...I should say!) Good Luck! Post your findings!

First off, you need to post the ENTIRE HJT log, including the header information.

Next, try a wired connection and see if it still happens, this will tell us if it's a common networking issue or something with the wireless.

Some things you can try here, listed in the order you should try them.

  1. For wireless connections, remove all the stored wireless profiles and search for networks. You'll have to enter the encryption key again, which is sometimes the issue for connection problems.
  2. For wireless connections, change the channel on the router, I like channels 1, 6, and 11 in the US.
  3. For wireless connections, try moving either the wireless router/AP or the wireless computer. Even a couple of feet will sometimes make a big difference.
  4. Update the network drivers (wired and wireless) on your computer to the latest available.
  5. Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
  6. Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
