I have a fixed ip address is it possible to hide it from other computers. Perhaps there is software to do this?

Have you thought about using a firewall and just blocking all incoming ports?

ZoneAlarm is a firewall like Danrak said, but it doesn't block the ports, it instead absorbs the packet and tells the person who sent it that that port doesn't exist, so unless they already know your online, for example: your in a chat room when they ping your IP It'll show up like your not there... that is the best legal answer I can offer, there is stuff out there but Zone Alarm is free, legal, and a lot easier to set up!
