I have a new Cobra NVR and am connecting a ethernet wired camera to a POE switch. The switch is wired to the router/modem. The WAN port of the NVR is wired to router/modem.
I also have a camera directly plugged into the NVR
I can access the NVR with smart phone, laptop etc. using the IP address of the NVR and view the direct connected camera.
I have checked to see if the router/modem has assigned an IP address to the camera and it has not. I have connected my laptop to the switch and it was recognized and assigned an IP address.
My question is: Shouldn't I see an IP address assigned to that camera?
The only variable with the POE switch is that the laptop doesn't need POE, but the camera does.
Harbor freight tech support hasn't had anyone using their system that used a switch in their installations so they have not been able to help me. Hope you can.
TIA
