IP Address of Wireless Access Point?

3267 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  robbp
I recently got a wireless access point for my office's network, an Encore ENRXWI-G. Given how common they've become, I have surprisingly little experience with WAPs.

I am able to connect to the wireless connection, the problem is that it is an unsecured connection. The WAP's documentation says to add a network password, that I need to go to 192.168.1.1

However, that is our network's router address. I can't seem to find the WAP's IP address. How would I go about finding it, so I can get into the WAP's menu to add a password?

Thanks.

You may have to connect the WAP directly to a computer with a static IP address assigned and access it's setup to move it's base IP address so you can access it on your network. Configure the machine for 192.168.1.2 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, restart and you'll be able to connect to it and configure it.

There are instructions for doing that in the manual. Here's a Manual Link
Hooking it up directly did the trick, I just changed the IP address from there. Thanks a lot.
