I have a 1 TB Iomega USB drive (just 4 months old) that worked fine until yesterday. Now it will not spin up. When I apply power I can hear it attempt to start, but nothing happens. It continues to do this. Any suggestions? I want to at least retrieve the data that's on it.

Thanks

If it won't spin up then you are going to have to pull the drive out of the enclosure. Several possible issues but you'll need to get the drive out and connected directly to ( I assume it is SATA ) SATA ports on a desktop to diagnose the issue. Once you get it out post the Make and Model number. Also describe what you hear when it attempts to start.

What's the secret to taking the drive apart? There are two screws on the bottom, but there's more to it than that. I'm assuming that it's snapped together, but I can't figure out which way to pull/push/pry in order to get it apart. I've searched for disassembly instructions but have had no luck. Here's the drive info from Iomega:https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/c....php?p_faqid=20845&p_sid=7MwY5Wwj&p_lva=14432

Thanks

Never pulled one of these apart, look under rubber fet for additional screws, look around the edges where there are seams for a point to insert a small screwdriver to release a tab.
