So on a good day I tend to around 30-100 kbps on my satellite internet connection. I have satellite beacuse im so far out in the woods dsl and cable have not been invented out here yet, as well as a thing called sewers. its all septic tanks out here.
any ways im happy with 20kbps but then it usually slows to like.... 0.01kbps
and I have to reset the modem to get it back on track.
there is no router, i disconected it in anger and now am just frustrated. i thought maybe because its on a power strip and my extremely old computer speakers buzzing could be interfering so i plugged the modem directly into the wall and threw away my antique speakers, no change.
as soon as i reset it its fast but after maybe 30 mins its back to a crawl, and thats extremly consistant.
I have a via sat surfbeam sm2100 modem for my satellite internet connection. It came with the installers about a year ago and im suspicious of the longevity of a company issued "stock" modem.
I guess my question is, can i throw my modem away and get a new one? please? i want a quick fix, and I want i now, because the tv generation has ruined my patience!
