I need to download and install VMWare Workstation for my class. I downloaded the install .exe from the site we got from our instructor. Now whenever I open it, I get the Windows Security pop up saying "These files can't be opened. Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened."

Now, I went into Internet options and turned every possible setting to it's lowest. I added the website I downloaded the file from to my trusted websites. I turned off Windows Firewall and every windows security setting I could find. I tried running the exe as an administrator. No dice.

I'm now extremely frustrated. Could some please explain what I need to do to get this .exe to run?

Side rant: Why would Microsoft implement such a piece of garbage feature? It's my computer, and if I want to mess it up with viruses and stuff that's my choice. Why would they just completely prevent you from opening the file without giving you an easy bypass?
