Hi,
I have a DSL connection(768k), and have never had any problems....But about 2 weeks ago it started acting up, high ping in games, and loading videos and websites pretty slow. I go to speedtest.net and get a result of about 300kbps. I usually get alittle over 1000, so its a lot slower than it should be. I have 3 computers, all do the same thing, so its not adware/spyware.
Now heres where it gets weird. I thought it might either be my router(WRT54G), or my dsl modem, so I try to connect my DSL modem directly to my PC and it can tell it is connected, but it just keeps trying to assign itself an IP....It is set to get one automatically...I plug the modem directly into my laptop....same thing. I have another router, I hook it up correctly, and connect my laptop to the router....It connects to the router just fine, but no internet.
They are installing fiber optic cable around my neighborhood and I am planning on getting that as soon as its available, but that wont be for a month or 2. If I cant figure this out, I will have to call Verizon, and see if they can figure it out.
