I am on a toshiba laptop and using windows vista and mozilla firefox and interet explorer. The problem i have is when i open either of the browsers and try to connect to any page it says connected to eg Google then says transferring data from eg. Google but page will not load. eventually it will come up problem loading page but this takes about 10-20 mins. Please help as i have tried loads of forums and nothing works!!!

What fixes have you tried that you got from the other forums ?

That amount of lag could be down to a high error count on your line and perhaps your SNRM could do with increasing. You would need to speak to your ISP about this, then see if there's any improvement.

You could also try experimenting with your MTU or download this SpeedGuide.net :: TCP Optimizer / Downloads which will optimize it for you.

You will need to set the MTU to 1500 in your router and pc first and in the prog, click on the Custom button. There are options for it to change the adaptors for you. This will set them up in your pc but you will then need to go back into the router and set that the same.

Hi, open a cmd prompt as admin (go to search type:-cmd, right click on returned cmd.exe and select 'run as administrator" at the prompt type:-

Also what firewall do you run and what Anti Virus program.

It is not the speed as i run a pc off the same modem and my laptop is connected through wireless. My internet was working then stopped and i rebooted my laptop. it worked again but then stopped again this keeps happening and i dont know why. I am running avg 2012 antivirus and firewall. i have tryed disabling these but to no avail.

Open up Command Prompt as Admin, type in ipconfig /release and press enter. The IP address should change to 0.0.0.0 Now type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. Now type ipconfig /renew and press enter. Type ipconfig /all and copy the text and post it in your next post.
