Lately I've been having trouble with search engines in
internet explorer. Sites such as Google and AltaVista I
cannot even open, it simply loads forever then I get
a "The Page cannot be displayed" error. And other sites
such as Yahoo and MSN I can load but when I use the
search tool on the site I get the same results. Whenever
I type anything in the address bar that isn't a
site/path, which normally when I'd do that it would
automatically lead to auto.search.msn, it now loads for a
long time, then eventually I get a popup critical error
saying the search page could not be loaded. I even tried deleting my XP User account and recreating it, to see if I accidentally altered some of the files\settings, and that didn't work either. The situation is the same on all user accounts anyways. Is there something possibly wrong with my PC or IE setting I could fix. I'm pretty familiar with all of IE's settings, and have tried everything, even setting all the restirctions to the
lowest settings, and still no results. Thanks.

Go To Internet Options in the Control Panel

Choose The Advanced Tab

Click Restore Defaults and see if that helps.

There is a Trojan that is redirecting search engines, etc., etc. I think that Spybot has it in the reference file now, but I'm not completely sure.

Download Spybot from the link below, have it check for problems and fix everything in red.

Come on back and let us know what happened!
