What's your wireless adapter? What's your processor; x86 or x64?

What does "kick off" mean? - Boots from internet, closes browser, crashes computer?

I'm connected to our DSL through a d link wireless router. By kick off, I meant that the internet just closes every 5 minutes like clock work....no warning. It's a Compaq with 1.86 GHz 1G ram. I tried system restore and it will not let me restore to a previous date. I've tried several dates.
