Recently it has drastlicly slowed down on opening to where it takes upward of 10 seconds. It had been taking 2 seconds tops. IE6 runs fine, and opens as fast as IE8 used to. I have tried a reinstall and that didn't work. I am looking for what may have caused this. I have done multiple maleware scans, and found nothing. All my other programs run fine. Please note that there are 2 instances of it open in the task manager, im not sure if that is normal or not.

Ok that is just one of the first things that can cause a problem.

Since you have done maleware scans I would assume that you have deleted the
history and such from tools|internet options|?
If not please do so.

Are you running any toolbars that didnt come with IE?

With the add ons turned off try to use the reset button in internet options|advanced.
You will be able to turn the add ons again after that but please dont for now.

Have you recently added any fire walls or made any network changes?

If on a network do the other computers respond correctly.

can you open a HTML or xml file from a local source on your computer and does it open quickly?
You can search for one by putting *.htm;*.xml in the search (find) window.

Does this happen all of the time or just certain sites?

If your browser is still running slow with add-ons disabled, you might want to do a malware scan, and re-install your browser.
