Hello, I'm not sure if this post is in the right catagory so apologies if it's not.

I currently have an orange "mobile broadband" dongle but for some reason I cannot access explorer or get online generally. The dongle says it's online, the light is on, the timer is ticking, but when I try to open explorer it's says I'm offline.

I had the same problem with an O2 dongle that despite hours on the phone to O2 they could not fix. Hence binning it and getting an Orange one only to have same problem.

Both times the dongle says it's connected, the light is on and the timer is ticking but no connection.

I'm not that great with computers but when I hover over the little computer thingy in the bottom right of the screen it says local connection.

I'm thinking it may be a firewall problem or something along those lines. I currently run norton 360.

I have a compaq laptop with windows vista.

Any help appreciated as it's driving me mad.

Thanks

Thanks mate. If I remove it is it easy to reinstall again?

This is probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyway, I'm on the Internet on my phone whilst posting on here, how do I click on that link on my laptop when I can't get online?

1) Yes, from what I've heard you can re-install and continue you current subscription.

2) You could download the tool onto another PC, then using a flash drive (or other removable media) to transfer it.

Also, if Norton is the culprit, we here at TSF (well most of the staff does anyway ) recommend MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
