I seem to be having a problem on a desktop. Windows XP. Apperently I can go on the internet using the browser OPERA but I can not use any other browser or Instant Messaging software. Everytime I open a browser, it desplays a message saying that it can't connect to the server hosting the website.

Here is my output for ipconfig /all (I erased anything containing my name)

Boot into safe mode with networking, make sure all security software is disabled and try again.

Also, in the command prompt ping google and post the results

Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc. right click the Hosts file and open with Notepad. Scroll to the bottom and make sure the only entries after the Example are Local Host 127.0.0.1. if there are any other entries delete them and Save it.
