Intel 5100 AGN stopped working after using crossover cable

2681 Views 6 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  2xg
Hello folks,

After trying to communicate between an XP machine and Win7 using static IP and a crossover cable my wireless card stopped working. I did make the mistake of trying Homegroups prior to that.

It says Unidentified network and constantly remains in the Public Profile. Not even WiFi Sync is working...diagnostics reveal a problem with the drivers though several have been tried. From the originals to the latest version...Properties describe the device is working normally?

Any thoughts before I reinstall and start fro
scratch?

FTT.

Oh wireless USB won't work either. LAN is fine. Ipconfig stated that media is dusconnected...any help folks would be gratefully appreciated and a pint or few if you live local!!
Netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log resulted in:

There's no user specified settings to be reset

I had to leave it to reset but will post back once I'm back from a call.

Many thanks

I've attached a screen grab (in .doc I know but I was rushing and didn't use paint) of the error received when trying to repair it using Elevated privileges.

I've backed up all my data but would prefer not to re-install Win7...

Would another compatible card be a better option or do you think that the Drivers etc. are completely screwed and on a re-install would work?

BTW it was an upgrade to Win7 from Vista Home Premium...from a previous post not even Wifi Sync is working.

Many thanks.

First up I believe Congrats are in order. Secondly what else could you recommend to do? Are there any more diagnostics or reports that could be generated and posted to give a better idea?
