OK so, I have an old machine from 2006 which has had windows and then linux installed many time over. This time as I'm trying to install windows xp again I'm getting a error when the computer begins and goes in the usb device it's getting a Bootmgr is missing and asks me to restart. Some extra details: I have linux 11.10 32 bit, and my motherboard and processor is from intel. Please help I've been at it for over 2 days trying to find an answer on the net.

You USB Flash drive is missing the Bootmgr file to boot properly. You need to rebuild your XP USB Flash Drive.

It sounds like this USB style has worked in the past and its possible the bootmgr is corrupted as spunk stated.
