Installing Windows XP

I tried to Install Windows XP onto my computer but came to an
error(cyclic redundancy error). I called Microsoft and they said that it may be that Windows looses contact with the CDROM. They said to borrow a Windows 98
CD and a boot disk from someone so I could get a prompt and install from the hard drive. I do not know anyone that has a 98 CD. Does anyone know of any other way to install from the hard drive?

Well for the boot disk, you could download it from HERE! Just pick the one you want. Most likely the 98 version.
