Installing Windows XP

4304 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Monkey
I tried to Install Windows XP onto my computer but came to an
error(cyclic redundancy error). I called Microsoft and they said that it may be that Windows looses contact with the CDROM. They said to borrow a Windows 98
CD and a boot disk from someone so I could get a prompt and install from the hard drive. I do not know anyone that has a 98 CD. Does anyone know of any other way to install from the hard drive?

Where did you get the boot disk?
I went to bootdisk.com to download the bootdisk for Windows XP Pro, but the file was too big to copy to a floppy.
Problem solved

The problem was the disk itself. It had small scratches on it when I got it, but they didn't look like it would be the problem. The guy from microsoft didnt think so either. I went to a local computer store and they installed it with one of their disks and my product number.

but Thank you for all yalls help!:D
