So I had to get a replacement hard drive because the old one went up. I took it to Staples and had my info backed up. Then they replaced my hard drive. I told them I had the disk to re-install the OS and Drivers/Utilities at home that I got when I purchased the Laptop and I would do it myself.

I have tried both disk. The OS disk for Windows 7 is not reading. I have tried the F12 key, F8 key, F1 and F2 key. Nothing is working. What else can I do? I don't want to pay someone to fix it.

When I put in the Drivers/Utilities disk it reads but it is not automatically installing anything. It boots up and after a few thins go by it has this:
F:/

What am I suppose to put next to it to get it to work. I need help badly. I need step by step directions. I know nothing about computers for real. Please. I need my laptop back up for classes asap.

I have a Dell Insprion 1545 Lap top

Thank you

You do not install the drivers from the disc until after the Windows OS is installed.
First boot into Setup (Bios) make sure the new HDD is being recognized. Next, in the Bios,go to Boot Priority, using your arrow key, change the CD/DVD rom drive to First Boot Device, Save and Exit. You can also do this by pressing the F12 key.
Put the Windows DVD in and restart. You should see the message Press Any Key To Boot From CD/DVD. This should start to boot the Windows disc.
After Windows is installed, go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, if you have any devices with yellow flags, put in the Drivers CD to install drivers for them. Or better yet, go to the Dell Drivers Site and choose your OS and download any drivers needed in the Device Manager.
