Installed XP PRO on inspiron 8600

I have tried to upgrade my g/f's inspiron 8600 to windows XP PRo, i have formatted her HD and deleted all partitions, and made it out to be a fresh install of windows xp pro, i get to the splash screen for windows then it gives me a blue screen, gives me an error saying INVALID_WORK_QUEUE_ITEM. I have tried numerous things, switched to selective startup and disabled everything, disabled mostly everything in device manager, i am now isntalling SP2 on the pc, does anybody have any idea what is going on, when i installed XP, i formatted the HD deleting the 3 partitions that were on the drive to begin with, i then created a brand new partition, I am able to get into safe mode but when i try normally i get to the splash screent hen i get the blue screen.. Please Help!
