I just installed a new Asus Xonar DG into my Desktop PC, so I can use that instead of the standard Realtek HD Audio built in card.

The speakers work through them fine, but I want to use my headphones through the front panel jack still. This is disabled (I'm assuming because the Xonar overides it). What can I do to let me plug my headphones in the front and hear through them? I set the front panel settings on installation to HD Audio rather than AC'97. Not sure if that's a problem, or how to change it back.

Various other problems have arrisen such as, Windows Media Player volume slider not doing anything while I'm using the card; and Cubase disableing recording while it's enabled.

I have disabled the card at the moment until I've found a solution.
Any help would be apprieciated.

PC Specs - Windows Vista 32bit, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT, 4Gb RAM.

The front panel port (ie: headphone jack) is connected to the motherboard (ie: Realtek audio chipset). If you want that port to work on the Xonar card, the cabling will need to be moved to the new card (assuming the Xonar has connections for front panel ports).

If the Xonar is set as the default audio device, then all volume controls within Windows should function normally.
