i burnt windows xp onto a cdr-80 disc hoping to install it on my new computer. i loaded it but a message came up saying " boot from cd/dvd : disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter"

should i burn windows xp onto a dvd disc instead?
advice would be much appreciated!

Why a burnt copy of xp? We cant help with hacked or cracked software
here..

Assuming you bought a SP1 or SP2 XP and slipstreamed it - that would account for the 'burning'.

I have one I made from a SP1 install CD slipstreamed to SP2.

You must have NOT followed the instructions correctly - that would account for the failure.
