Hello All,
I just put in a new motherboard for my pIII 800 mhz. Upon startup It will not detect any ide drives. I have two cd-roms and two HDD installed and it will not detect them. In the BIOS auto-detect is on but it still will not detect anyof them at all. The light is staying on on the cd-rom drives and the doors will not open to the trays. I also have verified that the jumper setting is correct for the western digital HDD. Please Help!!!!! I have no idea what could be the cause of this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all...............

Sounds like the IDE cables may be on wrong.

The side of the cable with the red stripe should go towards the power connector on the device.

And the red stripe should go to the #1 pin on the motherboard. Check your manual to verify which is #1 on the connector.
