Hi,
Be sure to backup your data as a format will wipe out the drive.

You can use Dban here to format the drive:
http://dban.sourceforge.net/
This will completely wipe out Linux, although you may not need it. Xp should do the job during setup, If you choose the right installation procedure when asked what partition you would like to install XP on.

The other issue may not be the Linux program.

As Windows starts to load you should get an option to load the SATA controll driver(or something similar) press f6 (I think) at the buttom of the screen. You will need this driver before you install windows:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...wEnvOID=1093&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=1

Be sure to follow the instuctions! This will load the driver needed so windows will detect the HD. Once loaded and installed you will need more drivers.

The rest of your drivers that you will need are here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...sId=3368538&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093
Install the Chipset Driver first!
The UAA driver (under sound) must be installed before the Sound Driver!

Check the device manager and post back if you have errors.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi,
Here is a link that may guide you:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp.
Scroll down to STEP BY STEP CLEAN INSTALL OF XP (INTERACTIVE)
Basically:
Setup in the bios to boot from CD first.
Place the CD in your CD-Rom
Boot up the PC and "press any key" when prompted.
You install the Sata Controll driver (tap the f6 key) when prompted.
XP should install.
Thanks,
Bill
