I impulsively formatted C: on my old computer in order to try and install win2k. I wasn't worried about doing it because I installed the hd as a slave in my new computer and copied the entire C drive into a folder on my new HD. As it turns out I should have been more concerned. Now I get a failure error when I try to boot the old computer from CD.

Can I install the HD as a slave in my new computer, install an OS on the slave HD without effecting the new computer and it's HD. Then take the slave out of my new computer and install it as a mater in my old computer.

I did that, and the only thing I got was the installer will drop some temporary files on the master harddrive (it's whatever drive isn't being installed on) Other than that I haven't had any problems doing it that way.... Good luck and Welcome to the Tech Support Forums(TSF) Fallen Soldier.

Thanks for the welcome.

I made the boot disks from the make boot exe using another computer. Seems to be working.
