...or that's the best description...

Hi all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. Until yesterday, i had a great little desktop set-up for it. Had the laptop screen as the main screen, had an extended desktop running on an external screen, also a Dell. Occasionally, the main screen would switch out to the external screen, but all I had to do was reboot. Was happily running rainmeter to make it all look cool.

BUT, as of yesterday, multiple display set up is not possible. Identifying screens shows only 1 screen, or occasionally 2 but with REALLY corrupted display set up. When I checked, my graphics driver now only has "Single Display" mode; I know that multiple display capability is there. Also, there is a line running through my desk top that disappears when I shut down rainmeter.

the only change I have maid is to install a new version of the Intel Rapid storage driver to correct a skipping issue in audio playback...

Intel, Dell AND Windows all tell me my driver is up to date.

What to do? (Frisbeeing the thing out the window has occurred to me, but finances do not allow...)

Thanks

ANNNND...total fail...snazzy new driver interface with single display as the only option...

which, I suppose, is what I get for buying Dell...or should I cast my wrath on Intel?

any other ideas?
