I have a Packard Bell iMedia MC 9005 and am trying find out what my graphics card options are as the integrated system just can't cut it.

There is a PCIe 16x slot on the mobo (Packard Bell BV RC415) but I can't figure out what version of PCIe (1.0, 1.1 etc) my mobo supports. I have PC Wiz & CPUID, but can't seem to see the relevant details anywhere.

I've seen a good deal on a 1Gb PCIe 2.1 card (less than £50) and understand that PCIe gfx cards are backwards compatible (unless my mobo has a PCIe 1.0 slot) although a BIOS / chipset update may be needed. I have 500w PSU as well.

A yahoo answers post on the same motherboard indicates that a GeForce GTX 260 (PCIe 2.0) would work ok if the machine had a 500w PSU.

I've been in contact with PB but they've told me my machine is obsolete and that they no longer have drivers / provide support for it. I was hoping that someone else may have had one of these machines and is able to give me the information I need as well as source where I can legally download the necessary drivers.

Thankyou.

Most all GPU's are backwards compatible but you will need to replace the OEM PSU.
We recommend 550W minimum for any PCI-E and you would need to be at 650W for the GTX 260. SeaSonic-XFX-Corsair (not the CX-GS-M Series) are top quality.
You could probably go with a lesser GPU for general use.
